This vintage silver gelatin contact print is signed in pencil mount recto, with Portfolio One stamp and numbering in red crayon verso. This print comes from Anne Adams-Helms's personal copy of Portfolio One, and bears her collection stamp mount verso.

Dedicated to Alfred Stieglitz, the father of modern photography, Portfolio One was produced by Ansel Adams in 1948 in a small edition of 75. Drawing from images made after Stieglitz's passing in 1946, this selection exemplifies the light and contemplative quietude of Stieglitz's later imagery.
