Best's Studio was founded by the painter Harry Best in 1902. When Ansel Adams married Harry Best's daughter, Virginia, in 1928, he began selling his photographs through Best's Studio. In 1972, Best's Studio was renamed to the "The Ansel Adams Gallery".
This print was originally included in a family album, alongside other Yosemite images from the early 1930s, next to another image attributed to Ansel Adams. Given that this photograph is unsigned, it may have been printed by an employee of Best's Studio, similar to how Adams's later special edition prints of the 1960s and '70s were produced.1of 3
