The soft evening light falls on the North Shore of Pt Lobos, creating a dreamy atmosphere in which bleached cypresses, granite, and stone crop, form constellations against the dark background of the cliff. This structure still stands today, 89 years later, with only minor alterations to the cypress. Weston’s two-decade career at Point Lobos, starting in 1929, is epitomized by his unrivaled ability to distill moments in the outside world to represent essences of his inward world. This particular print is initialed and editioned 1/50 in pencil beneath the image, signed and dated in the lower right corner mount recto; titled in pencil mount verso.Provenance
