This unmounted contact print was likely made by Brett for the photographer/director Lou Stoumen during the filming of "The Naked Eye, 1956"—a documentary on Edward Weston's life-work. The rich tones and hue are characteristic of untoned Azo; this print is one of few surviving examples of this iconic image on the paper of Edward's choice. This print is annotated and titled print verso, likely in Dody Weston Thompson’s hand “4M / Excusado, Mexico, 1926 / Book #6”. This print does not appear to fluoresce under UV light.
